psühhiaater Kadri Andre

Psychiatrist Kadri Andre

Working languages: Estonian, English, Finnish

I graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Tartu in 2005. I completed my residency in psychiatry in Finland and obtained my qualification as a specialist in adult psychiatry at the University of Tampere in 2011.

I have over 20 years of work experience in total.

About Me

The majority of my psychiatric experience has been acquired in Finland. I have worked in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatry, including acute psychiatry, mood disorders, and young adult rehabilitation. I have over three years of experience in consultative psychiatry and several years in transcultural psychiatry. Additionally, I have about a year of experience in advising and evaluating individuals undergoing gender transition (including surgical interventions).

Furthermore, I have extensive experience in the assessment and treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and other neuropsychiatric conditions.

In my practice, I place great emphasis on a relationship of trust, active listening, and understanding each individual’s personal needs. I believe the best treatment outcomes are achieved when decisions are made collaboratively with the patient to find the most suitable solution for their situation.

Although my main focus is adult psychiatry, I welcome children and adolescents to my practice as well.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Why can’t the doctor answer medical questions via email?

To ensure safe and high-quality care, a doctor can only provide medical advice after evaluating the patient’s health status during a consultation. Therefore, please book an appointment for any medical questions regarding treatment.

Will I get a prescription for my requested medication during the visit?

Prescribing medication is always based on an individual medical evaluation. The necessity of prescribing medications with potential risks of dependence or misuse is assessed with particular care. The doctor makes treatment decisions based on patient safety, current health status, and established clinical guidelines.

ADHD / ADD (ATH)

In most cases, diagnosing ADHD/ADD (which includes testing) requires at least 2 psychiatric visits.

If the purpose of your appointment is to assess eligibility for ADHD treatment, certain medical tests and assessments are required prior to starting therapy. Generally, the following test results must be provided::

  • Creatinine
  • TSH (Thyroid-Stimulating Hormone)
  • GGT
  • B-PEth
  • ECG (Electrocardiogram)
  • Blood pressure measurement

Options for undergoing these tests can first be discussed with your family doctor (perearst). If your family doctor does not order these tests, blood work can be done at a private laboratory (e.g., Synlab), and ECGs can be performed at other healthcare institutions.

The results must be visible to the psychiatrist on the Health Portal (Terviseportaal).

Please note that blood work, ECGs, and other medical examinations are not performed at our clinic during your appointment.

Patients considering ADHD treatment must have a blood pressure monitor at home, as treatment—especially in the initial stages—requires regular monitoring of blood pressure.
